Ava Sanjabi

Undergraduate Assistant

Ava Sanjabi is an undergraduate in Chemistry at Columbia College. She joined the Stockwell Lab in 2021, with her research focusing on finding and characterizing lipid biosignatures in astrobiology. She worked at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Berlin to further study biosignature applications on extraterrestrial environments.

Ava grew up in Miami, FL, where she focused on volunteering in elderly care facilities and with environmental organizations. At Columbia, she is a Laidlaw Scholar, a Teaching Assistant, a Resident Adviser, a member of the Columbia Space Initiative, and the Columbia Iranian Student Association. Outside of academics and extracurriculars, she enjoys doing yoga, painting, and making jewelry.
